FTDNA Haplogroup - V3c, Ancient Saami Norwegian

Mary Lydia Olmstead was born November, 25th, 1928, in Taylor Township, Minnesota, to Charles and Olive Olmstead; she was born at six months, (three months premature) and was placed near an open wood burning stove oven door to keep her warm, so that she would survive. Growing up in northern Minnesota, Mary greatly enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, and being outdoors. She was an avid gardener and raised a huge vegetable garden to supply her living as her and her father lived 8 miles out in the dense woods of Northern Minnesota since well before the mid 1930's. Mary's family was very important to her, and she greatly enjoyed spending time with them. She spent a great many years taking care of her elderly father, Charles Olmstead, Sr. until he died. She also helped her father's brother, her uncle, "Slim", when he was quite elderly by washing, and drying his laundry for him, along with other helpful deeds. Mary loved to visit her niece's farm where she kept her cat and enjoyed many family picnics there in the countryside. Mary lived a good, and Christian life, having never married. She was very close to her sisters Marjorie, and Lois and had many good years with them. Mary was good at making interesting conversation over a cup of coffee - because she had a way of recalling every detail of her many encounters with people. One of the best things about Mary is that she had the ability to "go with the flow" and take anything that life threw at her with, the greatest of ease, having never complained about any of her physical ailments; this one thing about her is an inspiration to many. While at the nursing home Mary enjoyed the companionship of her new friends; her radiant laughter, and warm smile will be missed by all who knew, and loved her well.
