"[W]ere Robert and Mary Ann (Van Scyoc) Patterson Baptists? I ask this because the Van Scyocs/Vansyocks were members of the Society of Friends and seem to have converted to being Baptists about the time Robert & Nancy (Tilton) Patterson organized the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in 1840 (after Robert & Nancy asked for letters of dismissal from the Ten-Mile Baptist Church). (Crumrine's "History of Washington Co., PA," p. 774 & p. 777) At least this is about the time that Enoch Van Scyoc "converted."(Enoch was father to Rebecca who m. Timothy Patterson, son of Robert & Mary Ann (Van Scyoc) Patterson.)"
