"The Salt Lake temple records found by Barbara Edward led her to the discovery of Lois' second marriage to Thomas Conklin. The 1851 census of Storrington, Frontenac, Ontario, Canada, pg 7 (film 349206), shows Thomas and Lois (spelled Lowas) with a Thomas, 15, born Loughborough. The 18 61 census (971.371 x2s) shows Thomas and Lois living there with a son Thomas, 24, born in Canada, his wife, Mary, 24, and a daughter, Lula J., 1. Lois was not in the 1819 census of Loughborough, published in "The Ontario Register" (FHL 971.5 B2og or 908001) Vol 3 pg 29, although Thomas Conklin is listed as well as some who are probably his children, but no Fanny was listed. There are nine children listed in his will (see notes for him) and census and LDS Temple records show birthdates of all but one of them. It seems that the first five were born 1806 to 1817, the next three, Mary Jane, born 1822, David, 1824, Thomas 1836. Thomas was named first in the will, probably because he received all his father's property and a charge to care for his mother. The will left to his "dearly beloved wife Lois Conklin, mother to the above Thomas Conklin, an honourable living off the place during her natural life" plus part of the house and furniture, and charged that Thomas "is neither to sell or dispose of the ... property during the life of his mother ... without her consent." This suggests to me that Thomas may be the only son, and possibly the only one of his children, by Lois. However, it is possible that Mary Jane, David and Lanson could be hers. It seems unlikely, though, since there is a 12-year gap between the birth of David and that of Thomas. Marriages of St. George Church of Kingston, Ontario, should be searched for the marriage of Thomas and Lois. 26 August 2013 by Rich Rydalch"
