Mary Price

Mary DeJarnette was the wife of Richard Price as shown in many documents of the Chancery Court in Cumberland County Virginia. John Price was her brother-in-law married to her sister Ann DeJarnette. Mary's second husband Archibald Wright served in the Revolutionary War. His daughter Sarah Wright Moore, a widow, applied for the pension her mother had been entitled to. Along with the application a record of family births, marriages and deaths was included. Data from this record reprinted in the article Finding Mary's Lost Identity. The children of Mary DeJarnette Wright Price named were Polley Watson, William Price, Archerbald Wright and Sarah Wright.

Tidewater Virginia Families on ancestry.com contains a record of the DeJarnatt Family (aka DeJarnette) Chapter 11 page 293-301 Image 313. This article contains the error identifying Mary as the wife of Joseph Richardson. However, several documents in the Cumberland Chancery Court show her husband was Richard Price. They resided in Cumberland County until his death in 1781 as neighbors to her sister Anna DeJarnette Price, wife of Richard's brother John Price. Tidewater Virginia Families: Generations Beyond pages 93 and 94 corrected the previous error. This statement is made prior to the identification of the children of Joseph DeJarnette I: "The accounts of the children of Joseph DeJarnette provide corrected information about their ages, marriages and offspring."

Mary DeJarnette and her first husband Richard Price were parents of two children identified in his Will, Cumberland County Will Book 2 page 280. Daughter Mary "Polley" Price married Abner Watson about 1788. Their second child William Price married Mary (Polly) Richardson in 1797.
