Mary L. Giddings was born in Conneticut to Thomas and Ann Giddings in April, 1813. While in Conneticut she married Daniel Prindle and together they had 6 children before moving to Michigan sometime between 1847-1850. The Prindles were some the first settlers in the Byron Township in Kent County, Michigan. There Mary gave birth to two more boys totalling 8. Her sons William and John both served as soldiers in the civil war; William was killed in South Carolina, for which Mary received pension for. Her husband died in 1869 leaving her widowed. She remained in Byron Township with her unmarried in children and sometime between 1870 and 1880 moved to Grand Rapids where she lived with her daughter Julia and her family, her unmarried son, John, and next door to her daughter Charlotte Price and family. She died in 1882 of small pox at the age of 69 and is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
