Published marriage records in Sumner Co., TN say Mary Desha m. a James Reese. They were married 18 Sept. 1789.
The will of her father, Robert Desha, states Mary's husband is Charley Reese.
From 1789 to 1808, Mary & Charley lived in Sumner Co., TN. In 1808 they move to Maury Co., TN. & stayed there until 1819. From there they went to Lincoln Co., TN. & lived there until their deaths.
18 Sept. 1832 Mary gives Asahel 3 slaves-Nancy age 42 & her two children on the condition that he will not receive anything from her personal estate when she dies. Nancy was one of the slaves given to Mary by her father in his will.
Also in Lincoln Co. 9 Nov 1835, Mary sells 200 acres to Hiram, her son, for $500.
Mary dies intestate 24 Apr. 1838. Mary's inventory tells us she was a weaver.
Peter G. McMullen & Robert McCalla apply for letters of administration & are granted. They are authorized to make an inventory of Mary's possessions & it is recorded 12 Nov. 1841.
