Mary Louise REITER Mary Louise Stern Reiter died July 24, 2006 following a stroke. She was born in Seattle, August 23, 1915, third child of Leopold Moses Stern and Louise Friend Stern. She graduated from St. Nicholas School in 1932 and attended Wellesley College. In 1938 she married Bernard L. Reiter, a prominent Seattle attorney and civic leader. They had one daughter, Carla of San Francisco and Naples, Florida. Mary Louise served on numerous boards and was active in many civic and charitable organizations. She was the oldest living past president of the Seattle Jewish Family Service. She was a well-known saleswoman in the book department at Frederick and Nelson for more than 30 years. In 1954 she compiled a book of 60 photos portraying the beautiful Pacific Northwest which she titled Portraits of Puget Sound. Known as ML to her many friends she grew up on Capitol Hill and lived more than 65 years in Madison Park. She often wintered in Palm Springs, CA. Mary Louise is survived by Carla (Mrs. Hank Greenwald) and two grandchildren, Doug of Fresno, CA and Kellie of Corte Madera, CA. Other survivors include her sister-in-law, Bernice Friedman Stern and nephews, Edward (Pauline) Stern and David (Margaret) Stern and many devoted cousins. Remembrances to the Seattle Jewish Family Service, Caroline Kline Galland Home, Temple De Hirsch-Sinai, or a charity of your choice.
