About Mary Robbins
Mary Coffey Robbins was eighth of eleven children born to William Coffey (1812-1893) and his wife Margaret Robbins (1816-1882). The Coffey and Robbins families were widely settled in the upper Yadkin River Valley since the late 18th century. Mary was born on the William Coffey farm in the Buffalo Creek area of the Valley in Caldwell Co., NC. In 1877 she married a cousin, Larkin Avery Robbins (1857-1943). The couple had nine children: Margaret (b. 1878), Martha Ida (b. 1879), James Larkin (b.1882), Mary Magdalene (b. 1884), John L. (b. 1886), Rufus Ervin (b. 1888), Nancy Caroline (b. 1889), Alice (b. 1892), and Lawrence Hill (b. 1894).
