(1) 5 March 1696 Anne Pierce, d. 27 Nov. 1706, daughter of John Pierce of Portsmouth; m. (2) 22 Dec. 1708 Sarah Davis, daughter of Aaron Davis of Newport, RI, and Dartmouth, Mass., who was pastor of the First Baptist Church in Darthmouth. Amos Sheffield was an inhabitant of Tiverton at the organization of that town 2 March 1691/2. In 1705-1707 he was a Selectman of Tiverton and in 1709 Town Treasurer. He was also Town Clerk and captain of the Tiverton Company and was Deputy from Tiverton to the Mass. General Court (cf. Austin, op.cit.). He was a Captain in the Mass. forces in the expedition against the French at Cape Breton and he did on the expedition. His will , dated 17 April 1707, was proved 7 June 1710. Children by first wife: Susanna, John, Mary, Ruth Child by second wife: Aaron (Some account of his descendants was compiled by Gen. Ebenezer W. Peirce of Freetown, Mass.) Amos married (1) Anne PIERCE, daughter of John PIERCE, on 5 Mar 1696 in Tiverton, Bristol Co., Massachusetts. Anne died 27 Nov 1706 in Tiverton, Bristol Co., Massachusetts. Amos also married (2) Sarah DAVIS, daughter of Aaron DAVIS and Miss, on 22 Dec 1708.
