Mary Stewart's Will. July 30, 1778.

I, Mary Stewart, widow and relict of John Stewart, late of Prince Georges , County (but now of CC), am very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory. To my son Henry Stewart - my Negro Harry and my young horse called Jupiter. To my son George Bradley Stewart - my Negro called Adam, and my black mare called Phil/is, subject to his bringing up my grandson James Stewart until he reaches age 21, and giving him 1-1/2 years' schooling and 1 young creature, either horse or mare worth 8 £ and 1 whole suit of clothes at age 21, and subject also jointly with my son Henry, to the payment of all my just debts and funeral charges and all other legacies from me. To my daughter Martha Stewart - 1 cow and calf, 1 ewe and lamb, and my side saddle, and all my wearing apparel (except my red cloak). To my daughter Chloe Stewart - 1 cow and calf, 1 ewe and lamb, and 3 £, to be paid by my executors. To my daughter Priscilla Stewart - 1 cow and calf, 1 ewe and lamb, and 1 feather bed and furniture usually used for the girls to lay on, and 1 pot. To my son Walter Stewart - 1 cow and calf, 2 ewes and 2 lambs, and 1 pewter dish. I also give 20 shillings to the use of the Roman Catholic Church, to be applied for the alter. The rest of my estate to be equally divided amongst my sd sons Henry and George Bradley Stewart, together with my right to the rest of my brother William Hambleton's estate yet remaining in the possession of my brother, Patrick Hambleton, unsettled and undivided. Executors: Henry Stewart and George Bradley Stewart Signed Jun 14, /777 - Mary (M her mark) Steward. Wit - Geo. Dent, William Hamilton, Jno Cr (Cartright) Barnet, Jul 30, 1777. This will of the deceased was proved by witness Dent.
