Mary Myrick-Thomas Obit Ran Monday February 26, 1951 in the Salamanca Press Salamanca, New York " Illness is Fetal to Local Woman Mrs. Mary J. Thomas dies at home of son. Mrs. Mary J. Thomas, eighty-eight, died Sunday afternoon at the home of her son, Fred Thomas, 595 East State Street, after an illness of the past three months. She was born in Australia and came to this country at the age of seven. She had lived near Susquehanna, Pa. and in Salamanca for the past nine years. Mrs. Thomas also is survived by two daughters, Mrs Elsie Jones of Brockway, Pa. and Mrs. Carrie Pluew of Eden, Md; eleven grandchildren. three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the Hunt Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m.. Burial will be in the family plot in Wildwood Cemetery"

BIO: Mary Jennet Myrick-Thomas was the daughter of Daniel Charles Myrick and Ann Priscilla Eacott. She may have been born at Currency Creek where her family lived. Her birth record has not been found at this time. Her father Daniel and his oldest daughter Lois Ann with her two young children left Australia on the ship Isabella Hercus in January 15, 1867.It sailed to New York. They settled in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. Mary's mother Ann , Mary and her siblings followed the next year. They departed Australia on the Inveraray for London on January 12, 1868, departed England on the Cella and arrived in America on May 23, 1868 and joined the family in Pennsylvania. Mary Jennet Myrick married John W. Thomas in late 1880 by the birth of son Sterling. John was born in April 1857 in Pennsylvania to Sylvester Thomas and Eliza Brown.

Mary and John Thomas had 5 children as follows,

1. 1. Sterling Sylvester Thomas September 7, 1881 Sherman, Wayne County, Pennsylvania.He married Anna G. Dix on March 5, 1907 in Susquehanna Co. Pennsylvania. She was born March 14, 1886 the daughter of Alfred W. Dix and Gula A. Stanton. She was a school teacher.They had sons Earl about 1910. By the 1920 Waymart, Wayne County, Pennsylvania census Sterling has a wife named Hannah and step son named Olie Lee born about 1911 Wayne County, Pennsylvania. Sterling's WW1 draft card dated September 12, 1918 list his wife as Hannah. And their address is Waymart, Wayne Co. On June 11. 1903 he joined the army, enlisted at Binghamton, N.Y. Stationed at Ft. Monroe, Virginia. He served in the Spanish American War in Company 13th Regiment CAC (Coast Art. Corps), Discharged June 10, 1906 at Ft Monroe, Va. On. On Oct 1, 1928 he was admitted to the National Home for Disabled Soldiers in Hampton, Elizabeth City Co. Virgina. At that time his service record reports that, he had Tabes Dorsalis and Bilateral Blindness. He died April 9, 1935 and interment April 12, 1935 in the Hampton National Cemetery. He is listed in the 1930 census in the home in Virginia.
2. 2. Carrie born September 23, 1884.She died in Decemeber 1975. She married Adelbert Warren Plew before about 1905. They first lived in Vestal, Broome County, New York and later by 1918 moved to Eden, Someset Co. Maryland. Adelbert was born in October 13, 1888 in Pennsylvania. He died January 8, 1940 Somerset County,Maryland. They had 2 children Florence H. 1909 to 1980 and Kenneth R.born August 5, 1906 died December 31, 1981. This family is buried in the Asbury Methodist Chruch Cem, Allen, Wicomico Co. Maryland,
3. 3. Elise M. born June 1887 Wayne Co. Pennsylvania. Died 1978 Polk or Munderf, Jefferson Co. Pennsylvania. She married Ray Rodney Jones on April 9, 1913 in Pennsylvania. Ray was born April 14, 1884 died January 26,1969. He was the son of Jared Jones and Salinda Lynn Lyle. Elsie and Ray had son Robert S. Jones born Sept. 22,1915 died Dec. 10, 1987. 4. 4. Angie Irene born March 1889.She died March 11, 1946 in Tonawanda,Erie/Niagara Co., New York. An obit published on March 12, 1946 in Buffalo, Erie County newspaper under Tonawanda News. Another notice ran Wednesday March 13, 1946 mentioned her funeral being held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from the Watengel Funeral Home. Burial White Chapel Memorial Park, Tonawanda, now Amhurst. This notice was posted by the Oriles Auxilary # 110, as she was the President of the post. She married John William Patrick about 1916. They had son John Kieth Patrick which was 2 yrs and 10 months old in the 1920 census. John Patrick was the son of Daniel C. Patrick and Ava Ann Sutliff. John William Patrick was born November 3,1886 Lansboro, Susquehanna Co, Pennsylvania, taken from his WW1 record. Death Certificate gives birth date of 11-4-1886. John died March 5, 1972 Ft, Worth, Tarrant Co. Texas. Returned to North Tonawanda for burial at the White Chapel Memorial Park. After Angie's death John married Bertha Unknown at this point. She died 4-6-1966. Angie is buried in Grave 2 Lot 292 Block 3, White Chapel Mem. Cem. When Bertha died John buried her in his plot Grave 1 next to Angie. He purchased Grave 2 Lot 291 Block 3 for himself so that they could all be buried together. Their son John Keith Patrick was born February 12, 1917. Married first Carolin F. Unknown of Rochester, NY by 1940, John K. joined the US Army on June 6, 1945 Rochester, NY. John K. Patrick died November 12, 1982 Ft. Worth, Texas. He married his last wife Frances Nell Williams August 1, 1966 in Tarrant Co. Texas. They are both buried in the Laurel Land Memorial Park Cemetery in Ft. Worth.
5. 5.Fredrick Leland born September 5th,1898 Pennsylvania.His birth date taken from his WW1 draft card dated September 12, 1918. List his address as Brandt, Tioga County Pennsylvania. He died May 22, 1981 He married July 4, 1923 to Carrie E.Wingard the daughter of John Wingard and Ida Davis.She was born April 3 1903 in Pennsylvania. She died May 18, 1973. They 5 children. # 1.Daughter Virgina K. born in August 26,1924 Cattaraugus County, New Yorks., # 2. Sterling S. April 29,1932 died Sept 20, 1988 Whicita, Kansas, # 3.
