Mary Irene Walker

Mary Irene (Morrow) Walker was born Feb 24, 1895 in near Deer Ridge, MO to David F Morrow and Nancy Elizabeth (Levengood) Morrow. From 1914 until she married Seldon Walker in 1917 she was the teacher at the Walker School just East of Deer Ridge. On June 30th, 1917 she married Seldon Walker at Deer Ridge. Seldon and Irene had 7 Children:

1. Wahnetta Walker (Lillard, Fretwell)(1917-2007)
2. Ola Verline Walker (Bradley) (1919-1999)
3. Dorthy Jenalee Walker (Lemmon)(1921- Living)
4. Lester Seldon Walker (1924-1999)
5. Delmar Glen Walker (1926-1984)
6. Donald Gene Walker (1928-1929)
7. Nina LaVerne Walker (Hockman)(1930- 2016)

On Sept 14, 1932 her husband Seldon died of an illness leaving Irene and her 6 children on their farm North of Deer Ridge during the depression of the 1930's. Sometime between 1941 - 1943 she was able to sell the farm for enough to buy a house in La Belle. She lived in La Belle, MO until her death on April 16, 1975. She is buried in the Deer Ridge Cemetery with her husband Seldon.
