About Mary Whitcomb
[Note: Her est birth taken from age at death and baptismal record. John's est birth taken from his being in his 16th year when he requested guardianship by his uncle. ]
[ Note: Lancaster and Bolton changed borders during this time period]
[Note: Caution: Information found in the text: Whitcomb, Charlotte. The Whitcomb Family in America : A Biographical Genealogy with a Chapter on our English Forbears 'by the name of Whetcombe,' Minneapolis, MN, 1904, should be confirmed elsewhere as it appears to contain a fair amount of errors]
Mary was from Lancaster, MA and most probably was born there.
From the fact that the birth of John and Mary's oldest child is recorded in Lancaster, and those of the others in Bolton, it appears probable that they settled in that part of Lancaster which, in 1738, became the town of Bolton [Carter, p. 153].
Mary was John's first wife.
This record of Mrs. Whitcomb's death is from Bolton town records: "Mary, wife of John Whitcomb, died Feb. 3, 1743, in her 25th year."
