Mary Ann Whiteley

Evidence that Mary Ann Smith, wife of Robert Whitely and Mary Ann Smith, child of John Smith & Eliza Kingston were the same person, is based in part on the following research of the interactions between the Newman, Mcleish & Whitely families. .

Percival Mcleish was the son of John Mcleish & Rebecca Harris.  Percival Mcleish had daughter Eliza Ann Isabella Mcleish with Mary Ann Smith, daughter of John Smith & Eliza Kingston in 1871..

John Mcleish married Susan Newman after Rebecca Harris, mother of their son Percival, died.

Susan Mcleish was a witnesses when Robert Whitely married Mary Ann Smith In 1880.    Susan Mcleish was also the grandmother of Ann Sinclair who married George Alexander Whiteley.  George Alexander Whitely was the son of Mary Ann Smith & Robert Dilworth Whitely.
