About Mary Williams
Mary was born on 12 April 1826. On 30 September 1846 she married her cousin, missionary Samuel Williams, at St Thomas's Church in Auckland. They had seven children, three of whom died in childhood. Their first year of married life at St John's was plagued by a typhus epidemic. Mary and Samuel cared for the sick and her dying brother, Thomas Sydney Williams. In Otaki Mary taught Maori girls who were boarded in the mission house. Mary died in 1900.
