1850 census, Kosciusko county: John, 45, farmer, born Delaware Matilda, 35 Alexander, 20; John, 17; Harrison, 14; Wm., 11; Ellen, 4; and Jane, 1.
1860 census: Matilda McNeal, 46 William, 21, farmer; Ellen, 14; Malinda, 13; Nancy, 10; Lucinda, 8; and Robert, 6
John's son John married Sarah Ilgenfritz just before the census was taken. Matilda's daughter Nancy married John Downs in 1868. Both Ellen and Lucinda married in 1870. Ellen became Mrs. John W. Vandyke on October 9th, and Lucinda became Mrs. Thomas Z. Babcock on October 16th. Nine years later, Malinda Jane "Jennie" married John W. Vandyke, and they are now buried together in Oakwood cemetery.
