Matred Mae Nelson was born March 23, 1906 at Bertha, Minnesota. She was raised by adoptive parents Mr. and Mrs. Warren Kingsland at Erskine, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Moses Nelson May 18, 1927 at Crookston. Moses passed away on May 19, 1982. Matred died on February 24 at the North Country Hospital in Bemidji. Marted traveled with her husband for many years in the ministry work of Jehovah's Witnesses. They did missionary work in Texas, Iowa and northern Minnesota. They later lived in Crookston moving to Greensview Nursing Home in Bagley in 1978 where they resided until their deaths. Matred is survived by a daughter, Pearl (Mrs. Walter) Eck of Gonvick; a son Ray of Lengby; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, two nieces, Ruth Olson of Oklee and Hazel Reinstma of Billings, Montana. She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents and brother, and her husband. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 1 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall on Sand Lake Avenue, Bagley, with Edgar Kircher, officiating minister. Burial will be at Bagley Cemetery.
