Charles City County, Virginia, Order Book, 1687-1695, 348. At a court held at Westopher, 22nd June 1691. Jno Moore, Mathew Markes, Tho Potts, Sam Easly, and Rich'd Was then presented by the grand jury upon information of Capt. Nicho Wyat for not coming to church. Sheriff to summon said delinquents to next court to answer. George &c. To all &c. Know Ye that for diverse good Causes and Considerations but more especially for & / in Consideration of the Importation of Seven persons to dwell within this our Colony of Virginia whose names are Matthew Markes, / Mary Markes, Edw. Markes, John Markes, Israel Markes, Sarah Markes, and Wm. Townsin do also for and in consideration / of the sum of ten Shillings of good & Lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our P. Colony We / have Given Granted and Confirmed and by these presents for us our heirs and successors do Give Grant and Confirm unto John Eaton of / the County of York one Certain Tract or parcel of Land containing four hundred and twenty nine acres lying and being in Prince / George County and bounded as followeth to wit, beginning at a White oak on the Southern Run in the Line of Capt. George Blayton / decd. thence along the sd. Blayton's Line and into the woods West twenty one and a half degrees South two hundred & forty one poles / to a Shrub oak thence South one hundred twenty eight poles to too oakes & a Pine near the head of a branch thence East twenty three / degrees South too hundred and ninety poles to a red oak on the East side of a branch thence Northe fourty one degrees East one hundred / twenty six poles and an half to a red oak thence North twenty too degrees West sixty poles thence West twenty five degrees South / eight poles to a Line being the Corner of Ralph Hill thence West thirty seven degrees North sixty eight poles to the head of the / Southern Run or meadow thence down the same according to the several meanders thereof to the place where begun With all &c. / To have hold &c.
