About Matthew Parr
Matthew Parr is a three-time senior British National Champion, winning the competitions in 2009, 2010 and 2013. He also won the British Junior National Championships in 2004.
2010 saw Parr compete in both the World and European Championships for the first time. He finished 30th in the World’s and 27th in the Europeans.
Parr is Team GB’s men’s singles representative in the Team Event for Sochi 2014 (the figure skating team event makes its debut at Sochi 2014). These Games will be Parr’s official Olympic debut.
In the qualifying round of the team skating team competition got underway a day before the Opening Ceremony due to an over-crowded timetable. He rose to the occasion with a lifetime best score of 57.40 for his short programme, though it was only good enough for ninth place out of the 10 male skaters.
