About Matthew Patrick
Matthew served as a Selectman in Western (Worcester) for 7 years. He also represented Western in the General Court in 1787 & 1789 and voted in favor of ratifying the U. S. Constitution. Since It was not ratified until 1788, his term must have carried over into that year. He apparently served as Selectman for consecutive annual terms between 1783 and 1788 and also for single terms for 1795 and 1797. He was also the Town Treasurer.
On Aug 1783, he bought land in Leverett, MA but decided to stay in Western where he died. He was one of the founding members of the Western Congregational Church in 1791
