Matthew Price

Matthew PRICE was likely born before 1620 in Wales, based on being of age in 1638. He was the son of John Price, Ancient Planter and his first wife Mary (probably). Matthew is mentioned in several land patents related to settling his father's estate.

In May 23, 1638, a patent was granted to Matthew Price as son and heir of John Price for 150 acres on Turkey Island Creek in Henrico Co. "granted by patent to his late father John Price, now in possession of his mother Ann Hallom Widow - being due unto him in right of his father who had a patent granted 20 Feb 1619. PB 1, part 2, p.558.

Apparently Matthew did not survive and this land descended to his younger brother John and then to John's sons. As the land went to his brother, it is most likely that Matthew died unmarried and without children.

• 1. William Price, born 1606 at Winchester, Hampshire, England; emigrated with his parents; "raised a family at "College Land," and his descendants lived in Gloucester, Middlesex and other eastern counties"[8] of Virginia.
• 2. Edward Price, born 1608 in England.
• 3. Matthew Price, born 1615 at Montgomery, Montgomeryshire, Wales; father of Sarah Price Jameson; died in Henrico. (May also have been either a cousin, or born later and a son of Anne)
• 4. Richard Price, born 1617 in Montgomeryshire, Wales; died April 1688 in Montgomeryshire, Wales.
• 5. Margaret Price, born 1622 in Neck Land, Henrico, Virginia; died 1682.
