John Patten 7 (Thomas, 6 Willis, 5 Stephen 4 William, 3 Nathaniel, 2 William 1) was born in Amesbury on February 9, 1815; married September 16, 1841, Emeline Young, daughter of Aaron and Mary (Colburn) Young, born in Wiscasset, Maine on December 21, 1817. When a very young man he went to Bangor, Maine, and commenced his life there as a clerk, being connected with the lumber business.

In 1865 he was elected treasurer of the Bangor Savings Bank, which position he held until his death. Everyone who was associated with him had for him the utmost confidence and regard. He died on May 16, 1876. His wife died on May 25, 1904.

i. John Frederic, 8 born on August 17, 1842; m. in Cambridge, September 10, 1873, Grace Desor Young, daughter of Rev. Joshua and Mary (Plimpton) Young, born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 19, 1851. She died on November 15, 1901. He died on June 21, 1881. No children
ii. Harold, born on June 6, 1847; died on July 25, 1850.
iii. Emma Peirce, born on May 2, 1851; married on December 3, 1878, George Peirce, of Frankfort, Maine, son of George Arthur and Louisa Tenney Peirce (Pike), born on February 16, 1851.

       1. Ruth Peirce, born on December 8, 1879; married in Winterport, Maine, on July 12, 1905, Charles J.   Webber, son of Charles P. and Grace (Jewell) Webber, born on December 9, 1881.
