Maurice 'The Quaker' Baker, of Anne Arundel County

• BALTIMORE COUNTY FAMILIES 1659-1759 Maurice Bacher/Baker progenitor of the family immigrated from England or Germany to Anne Arundel County, Maryland where he died in 1700; He married Eliza ___(could be Hil or Griniff we are not sure) who died there in 1703; acquired 50 acres "THE RANGE" originally surveyed for Eliza on 20 May 1666 and later sold by John Baker; The will of Maurice Baker, 10 Nov 1700-28 Dec 1700, named his children: CHARLES, WILLIAM, MORRIS, INDIMEON, MARY SMITH and her son James Smith, and JOHN and Maurice's wife, ELIZA HILL BAKER. He also names lands, "Baker's Choice", "Baker's Addition", "Charles' Forest" and land on Rock Creek. The will of ELIZA BAKER 10 Aug 1703-20 Nov 1703, named her daughters, MARTHA SMITH, SARAH GOSNELL AND MARY JONES and her sons, MORRIS, WILLIAM and JOHN (who was not yet of age).
