About Maurice Grillet

Someone known as Mauricio, born 1828, arrived at Ellis Island in 1880 - maybe his son?

A document entitles "Message of the President of the United States, of March 20, 1866, Vol. 2" states that D Mauricio Grillet was one of a number of witnesses to the sale of a 54 ton Schooner called "Anna Taylor" for $4,000 on 21 August 1861, in Tampico, then renamed Soledad Cos - the name of the new owner. This boat had come from Vera Cruz with a cargo of cotton, tobacco and coffee. The Americans claimed the boat was stolen and the crew included French deserters. It was taken to New York by the Americans, arriving in 1864.
