Early census records from Kentucky use the name Morris, but the passport application from 1889 uses Maurice Algernon. At the time, Maurice's residence was San Francisco, but the passport was mailed to Portland.
The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph, San Francisco Telephone Directory, February 1893 lists his address as 3005 Jackson.
