Ship manifest has Mordchelis Dolanski, arriving Nov 01, 1923 at the port of New York on the S.S. Suffern, leaving from Le Havre. Age on manifest is 31years old and single - although he had just married Eva in September before leaving for Europe in October. Place of origin is Olita (Alytus). He journeyed with his mother, Pose, Basia (Beatrice, 26) and Rosa (Rose or Raisel 24). Their destination was the home of Sam Dolnansky at 243 Grand Street in Brooklyn. Sam was a son of Pese and Reb Moishe who arrived earlier. The spelling of Dolnansky is different on every document. The ship manifest has it spelled Dolanski.

Max was a baker in New York. He learned the trade, probably, from his mother, Pesha, as she supported the family by managing a bakery in Alytus.
