Most of the soldiers were forced into service in the German Army and fell on the battlefields in Fance and Belgium. I believe Voi is located in present day Kenya – former German East Africa. I think the date of death is wrong – maybe it’s just a typo. The true date is 18-03-1916. I do not know if the date is wrong on the memorial itself or if it’s on the list only. n 18-03-1916 and is buried in Voi Cemetery. I have attached the certificate form the CWG to this mail for further details. You will find the name of his rank, military serial number and regiment.
