Max Paskin. February 16, 2003, Age: 95, Birthdate: Feb. 4, 1908

How did you celebrate your birthday? I celebrated with my friends and family.

City of residence: Delray Beach

Names of spouse and children and their city of residence: In my long life, I have outlived two wives. My first wife, Anna, and I had two children. Sherry Plotkin, my daughter, resides in Boca Raton with her husband, Gerald. They have a daughter, Anna Plotkin. Their son, Dr. Adam Plotkin, resides in Delray Beach with his wife, Pam, and my great-grandchildren, Zachary and Ze Plotkin. My son, Col. Harvey Paskin (Ret.) resides in Annapolis, Md. with his wife, Sandra. They have two children, Leah Paskin and Seth Paskin. Leah has a daughter, Rachel Weiselquist [Wieselquist]. My second wife, Frances, was my devoted companion for 25 years. Her daughter, Judy Kopstein, is married to Jay and they live in Stanford, Conn. Their two sons are Elliot and Michael Kopstein.

Former occupation and place: I worked as an engineer. I later became a math teacher.

Original hometown: I was born in New York City.

Favorite childhood memory: I was one of six children growing up in a New York tenement. I fondly remember taking my two younger sisters in their carriage to Bronx Park.

What surprises you most about 2003? That I have lived so long to see my family grow. I am fortunate to have a great friend, Ruth Berman. I enjoy her company.

Notes by Peter Paskin Yronwode, his nephew:

"Max Paskin was the second sib. He worked as an electrical engineer for North American Phillips and was instrumental in our family being early adopters of TV. We had a weird 'projection' TV which had a small tube (about 6” diameter) that projected its image on to the back of a larger plastic screen (maybe 18”). His wife Anna was much loved by all. When she died Max married Frances.

"My memory of Max is cloudy, but I think he was more jovial than his siblings. When the family still celebrated Passover and Thanksgiving at [grandparents] Louis & Gittel’s apartment in the Bronx, I remember that after a few glasses of Pesach wine, Max was the most enthusiastic voice as they chanted Chad Gadya interminably around the Seder table. I was often crawling around under it."
