MAX STIEFEL DIES - RETIRED MERCHANT, 73, TO BE BURIED MONDAY. Max Stiefel, 73, retired merchand died of heart trouble after a long illness Saturday. Funeral services will be held Monday from the Porter Loring mortuary with Rabbi David Tamarkin officiating. Stiefel is survied by his widow Mrst. Ray Stiefel, a son Dr. Dan M. Stiefel, a Detroit bone specialist and two grandchildren, Max Allen Stiefel and Alice Claire Stiefel. He was a native of Germany and came to the United States as a youth. He was in business in Galveston before he came here. For many years he was a member of the firm of J. Oppenheimer & Company, wholesale grocery dealers. Later he established the Oppenheimer Cigar Company from which he retired several years ago. He was prominent in Temple Beth-El Elk and civic and social club activitiy for a number of years. He resided at 719 Fulton Court.
