About May Clendenin Olds
Her husband Henry Oldys changed the spelling of the family surname from "Olds" to "Oldys" (still pronounced "Olds") before their son Robert's birth, apparently in reference to an ancestral spelling. The family used this spelling until 1931, when he reverted to the original. Her married surname at first was Oldys (her husband had changed his surname from Olds to Oldys before their marriage). Her son Robert changed the surname from Oldys back to Olds in 1931. By the time of her death her last name was Olds.
