Horace Baldwin Rice
Rice was born March 29, 1861, in Houston, Harris County, Texas, to Captain Frederick Allen Rice and Charlotte Marie Baldwin. He was a maternal grandson of Houston Mayor Horace Baldwin, and maternal grandnephew of Charlotte Marie Allen (Baldwin). He was the paternal nephew of William Marsh Rice, founder and namesake of Rice University in Houston, Texas.
He attended the Texas Military Institute in Austin, Texas.
In the early 1910s, Rice was President of Suburban Homestead Company and Vice President of the Houston Ice and Brewing Company.
Horace Baldwin Rice, son of Frederick Allen Rice and Charlotte Maria Baldwin, was born in Houston, Texas in 1861. In 1880 he was w clerk in a bank. He married on October 22, 1883 in Harris County, Texas, Mary Georgia DUMBLE, known as Georgia, (marriage record; not original shows her surname as Drum). She was born on October 24, 1861 in 1862 in Texas. They resided in Morgan's Point, Texas where he died on August 2, 1929; she died there on May 12, 1932. Both buried at Glenwood Cemetery, Houston.
