Melba B. Bingham Salt Lake Tribune, The (UT) - Thursday, September 14, 2000 Author: The Salt Lake Tribune OGDEN -- Melba Irene Bramwell Bingham , 85, passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2000 at McKay-Dee Hospital of pulmonary fibrosis.

She was born August 23, 1915 in Ogden, to Leland and Vera Cox Bramwell. She lived most of her life in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School.

On August 27, 1936, Melba married Norman Bonneru Bingham in Ogden. Norman died October 21, 1979. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Temple. She was an active member of the Ogden 43rd LDS Ward where she served as Young Women's president, Relief Society Counselor, Sunday School Teacher and a Visiting Teacher. Her love was her family, dear friends and caring for her home. She hosted many gatherings, swim parties for family and friends, and fund-raisers for charitable organizations in her beautiful home and gardens which she loved so much. In her later years, she loved taking her entire family to Newport Beach each summer. She enjoyed playing golf with friends at the Ogden Golf and Country Club and her love for the game blossomed with a Hole-In-One. Melba had a passion for life and a fun, caring way of interacting with those around her. She was an active member of the Junior League where she enjoyed her time spent at the Martha Home for battered women and working in pediatrics at the Dee Hospital. She found joy in simple things like the view of Ben Lomond, her flower garden and her birdhouse collection.

Surviving are two daughters and one son, Pamalyn B. (Deric) Hopkins, Salt Lake City; Denise (Don) Holder, Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.; Boyd B. (Susan) Bingham, Liberty; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Melba is also survived by two sisters, Eileen Bramwell Bailey, North Ogden; Chyrrel Capner, Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her son, Norman Barry Bingham.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Donations be made to the McKay-Dee Foundation or a charity of your choice
