Melvin R. Mattson, 95, of Superior passed away peacefully Thursday, September 16, 2021 with his loving wife, by his side. He was born on August 11, 1926, in Maple, WI to Alfred and Ida (Wanhala) Mattson.
Melvin served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee stationed in the South Pacific during World War II.
Melvin married his wife on January 9, 1954. This past year they celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage together.
He was a Great Lakes Seaman employed by Hanna Mining Company for 39 years, retiring in 1985 as a Chief Engineer.
Melvin was a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W. and Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed traveling to watch his children and grandchildren participate in their various sporting events and activities. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Melvin is survived by his wife; two sons; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Susan Lynn and brothers, Alfred and Charles.
