About Mendel Emanuel Forcheimer
His grave is here: [https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=136538261]
There is a mistake on the gravestone. Emanuel was born on 22.9.1821 and not on 21.9.1822. The birth registries of Hessdorf clearly show that.
Emanuel, a native of "Hessdorf, Bavaria," immigrated to the United States "when quite young." He was for a number of years a successful merchant at Milton, Florida. He later relocated to New Orleans where he established a wholesale grocery business known as Forcheimer Brothers. A widower, he was survived by two daughters, Mrs. A. Rosenfeld [Rosenfield] and Mrs. D. A. Schlenker; one son, Ben Forcheimer; a widowed daughter-in-law, Mrs. R. Forcheimer; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. See "Emmanuel Forcheimer: A Patriarchal Citizen Passes Away," _Daily Picayune_, New Orleans, La., 21 July 1897, page 7, col. 5.
