Merley Olson

of Port Orchard

Aug. 29, 1927 to Oct. 11, 2008

Merley A. Olson, 81 of Port Orchard, died in Bremerton on October 11, 2008. She was born August 29, 1927 on the family farm in Aneta, ND to Olenus and Ovidia (Fjeld) Sigdahl. She graduated from McVille HS in 1945, and married Harvey Olson on October 29, 1945.

Merley and Harvey moved to Port Orchard in 1951 where Harvey worked at PSNS. In 1968, Merley worked for several years at WA State Veterans Home in Retsil. Later they owned and operated Olson's Rotovating.

Merley enjoyed bingo, casino's and visiting Reno. She played basketball in HS and did some league bowling as an adult. She liked family gatherings, garage sales, and was a fan of the Mariners and Sonics.

Surviving are son Harley Olson; daughters Carolyn Olson and Shelly Bleile; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, children Marlo Olson, Ronnie Olson and Bonnie Delvo, her parents, and dear friend Darby Davies.

Graveside Service 2 p.m. on November 1, 2008 at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard. Memorial donations to Autism Spectrum Treatment and Research (ASTAR), 400 Boren Ave N, Seattle WA 98109.
