Merrill W Bailor

LEWISTOWN - Merrill W. Bailor, 82, of 805 W. Fifth St., Lewistown, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Oct. 16, 1916, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Samuel H. and Clara J. (Weimer) Bailor. His wife, Joyce (Esh) Bailor, survives. Also surviving are: children, Richard M. Bailor, Milroy, Mrs. Rodger (Sue) Howe, Avon, Colo., Timothy R. Bailor, York; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Chester W. Bailor, a sister, Grace S. Bailor, half-sisters, Hilda Spigelmyer, Gertrude Klinger, Ruth Hall, and an infant sister. He graduated in 1935 from Lewistown High School. He was employed at the American Viscose Corporation for 43 years in the shipping department, retiring in 1980.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewistown, and was a veteran of World War II, having serving in the U.S. Navy.

He served as a union chairman for a number of years. He was a member of the Lewistown American Legion. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Juniata Memorial Park with the Rev. Gerald Krum officiating.
