About Mervyn Archdale Stewart
Mervyn Archdale Stewart was the son of George Vesey and Margaret Torrens Stewart (nee Miller). He was born in Ballygawley, County Tyrone, Ireland, in 1859. Mervyn arrived in New Zealand with his family on board the Carisbrooke Castle in 1875. In 1881 he married his cousin Phoebe Louisa Hornridge Gledstanes and they lived at Katikati. Later they retired to Edgecumbe Road in Tauranga. Both are buried in the Tauranga Anglican Cemetery. Biography by Debbie McCauley.
