CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Michael A. Helman Sr., 71, of 1943 Hartzok Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born May 18, 1936, in Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Lloyd Michael and Louise Knepper Helman.
He had been employed for nine years by Landis Machine Co. in Waynesboro, Pa.
He was a member of Harvest Time Ministries Inc., where he served on the church board and the board of trustees.
He served as a supervisor for Guilford Township, Pa., was a member of both the Marion (Pa.) and New Franklin (Pa.) fire companies and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Martha M. Shores Helman, whom he married Oct. 4, 1952; three children, Debra McIntosh and Michael A. Helman Jr., both of Chambersburg and Steven L. Helman of Greencastle, Pa.; two sisters, Virginia Flora of Shippensburg, Pa. and Katherine Deshong of Chambersburg; three brothers, Lloyd Helman, Charles A. Helman and Harry E. Helman, all of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home in Chambersburg. The Rev. Vaughn E. Kipe will officiate. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
