About Michiel Christiaan Adendorff

He had a farm Sterkfontein, on the Rivier Sterkfontein. As this was a general meeting place, he decided to cut it into lots. which subsequently became Harrismith. He then bought the farm Christina in the North-Eastern Free State, near the present Memel. He bought the farm next door, Oshoek. For winter grazing he bought a farm at the bottom of the Eland path in Natal and called it Normandien, after the farm his father had owned in the Groot Dakenstein (Cape). Normandien was later sub-divided into Kendal, Stonehenge, Brooklyn, Slangberg, Up-and-Down and Uitkoms (From: Adendorff Tracks in South Africa - compiled by F.R.D Adendorff & Y. Christie)
