Mike Pattinson (1956 - 2023)

Brief overview:

Mike (67), from Farm Summerslie, near the Strongfontein Dam, Harrismith, was reported missing after not arriving at work on Monday 24th July 2023. He was found in deceased with several wounds to his head and neck.

A farm worker noticed the door of the home had been broken into. Mike's dog was injured and there was blood on the kitchen floor and the worker alerted Mike's brother.

The police were called and found the house had been ransacked. Shots were fired shots at the fleeing suspects.

Seven suspects in total were arrested, two of whom were women, and will appear in the Tseseng and Harrismith Magistrates court on charges of robbery, murder and possession of stolen property.

  • 27/07/2023: Five men appeared in the magistrate's court in the Tseseng settlement in Qwaqwa, Free State, on Thursday afternoon. Amos Ngcongwane, Lephosa Motaung, Teboho Mothibedi, Sympiwe Molaba and Siyabonga Maphalala appeared in court briefly. They are expected to appear in court again on Monday. They are charged with home robbery, kidnapping, theft, possession of presumably stolen property and murder.
