Miles Boyer Erdly, Jr

Miles Boyer Erdly, Jr., a Lakewood resident since 1973, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006 from cancer. He became the 10th child to Miles and Jennie Erdly on Dec. 20, 1935 in Selingsgrove, PA. He served his first career as a Sgt. Major in the US Army Signal Corps, during which he met his wife, Waltrud, of almost 50 years, in Germany. He was also a Vietnam vet and earned a Bronze Star. His dedication to service continued as he recently completed a second career as chief electrician for the Franklin Pierce School District. A humble man, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, relaxing at home, and was known as everyone's handyman. Miles is survived by spouse Waltrud Erdly, children William Erdly of Redmond, Miles Erdly, III of Puyallup, and Rosemarie Simpson of San Diego. His daughters-in-law are Paula Boyum and Brenda Erdly, with two granddaughters, Kirsten and Megan, of Puyallup. A remembrance of life service will be held in the Mountain View Garden Chapel, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, at 1:00 PM on Wed., Nov. 29, 2006.
