Milton was born July 23, 1931, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Hubert Leroy and Thelma Juanita (Haynes) Larimer. The family lived in Des Moines and Arkansas before making their home in Lenox. He attended Lenox High School. On February 29, 1952, Milton enlisted into the United States Army, during the Korean War. After his basic training, he entered a Specialized Leadership course which trained him to lead troops during combat conditions. He graduated from this course with class 162. Shortly after, Milton was aboard a ship, heading for Korea. Milton served overseas, for the duration of the war, and was honorably discharged on February 16, 1954, as a sergeant. After his discharge, Milton returned to Iowa, and worked with his father and grandfather as a painter and window glazer for the Des Moines Public School for over 37 years, until his retiring in 1992. He was united in marriage to Mary Alice Foster, in 1959, in Gravity, Iowa, and to this union two sons were born. Milton was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Am-Vets, member of the Painters Local 246, for 40 years, and a member of the Stuart Volunteer Fire Department for 14 years. Milton volunteered countless hours to many organizations in Stuart and was very instrumental in getting the new American Legion building built in Stuart.
