About Minnie Nightengale

Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 13, 1972:

Our beloved wife and mother, Minnie (Voth) Nightengale, was born to Tobias and Julia Voth on April 5, 1903 at Halstead, Kansas, and departed this life May 27, 1972 at Turlock Community Hospital, Turlock, Calif., reaching the age of 69 years, 1 month and 22 days. Death was caused by kidney failure.

At the age of 14, mother felt her lost condition and the need of a Saviour. Upon true repentance and an experience of the new birth she was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Aug. 30, 1917. She remained faithful until the end.

Mother joined hands with me, Carl Nightengale, in marriage on Feb. 15, 1920 at Montezuma, Kansas. We shared 52 years of joys and sorrows. To this union were born 7 daughters and 6 sons. She had 54 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Mother enjoyed her Christian life to the fullest. She always had a great concern for the church and attended as much as health permitted.

She leaves to mourn me, her husband, Carl; 7 daughters: Myrtle (Mrs. Henry Koehn) of Hilmar, Calif.; Elvina (Mrs. Ted Banks); Neoma (Mrs. Alva Mayeska) of Fredonia, Kansas; Susan (Mrs. Gene Koehn) of Snelling, Calif.; Janie (Mrs. Art Hibdon); Frances (Mrs. JayDean Koehn) of Delhi Calif.; and Bertha (Mrs. Gene Tucker) of Turlock, Calif. Four sons: Eldon and wife Bonnie of Fredonia, Kansas; Vernon and wife Wannell; Ivan and wife Lora; Delbert and wife Lenora, all of Delhi, Calif. One sister: Mary (Mrs. Geo. Giesbrecht) of Brooksville, Miss. and one brother Pete Voth and wife Lydia of Winton, Calif.

Two sons, Dennis and Ervin; her parents; two brothers; two sisters and three grandchildren preceded her in death. Funeral services were held on May 31, 1972 in the Livingston Church with Min. Donald Millsap and Min. Edward Schmidt in charge. Burial was in the Winton Cemetery.
