By 1771–1772, North Carolinians DD of #Bryan#Smiths #Folsoms #Clarke #Moor who had been trading with the Cherokee since Ebeneezer Folsom had the first licensed trade status and his Needham Folsom's son's married Tuscorora sisters (yes, same time), had been trading since NJ Dutch/Finn/Sweede showed up to buy out Manhattan in NYC. . Daniel Boone with Mingo Bryan (b. 1741 according to Chicasaw Nation) when going into Yadkin Valley Kentucky, were attacked byShawnee killing Rebeeca Bryan Boone’s son and father. The opening of unlicensed trading in the Carlolina's sparked the beginning of what was known as Dunmore's War (1773–1774), In 1776, allied with the Shawnee led by Cornstalk, Cherokee attacked settlers in some of South Carolina 's Welsh Tract 11 townships, some raids in Georgia, Virginia, and North Carolina in the Second Cherokee War. Overhill Cherokee Nancy Ward, Dragging Canoe's cousin, warned settlers of impending attacks. Provincial militias with Commander Richardson designation of a new rank, that of Brigadier General, and commander of most of SC from Bledsoe, VA was overseeing the retaliations for the raids and his nephew set up a plantation which would become the Marion's Raiders base, that of a mix of AA and FPOC who were based out of Bloom Hill Plantation. Overhill villages were destroyed and In 1777 surviving Cherokee town leaders signed treaties with the states which did not really last as the first Rev War saw a Drowning Creek Battle in SC and Dragging Canoe and his band moved near present-day Chattanooga, Tennessee, where they established 11 new towns and sided with Tories. Chickamauga was his headquarter and his entire band became known as the Chickamauga. From here he fought a guerrilla war against settlers, the Chickamauga Wars (1776–1794). The first Treaty of Tellico Blockhouse, signed November 7, 1794, ended the Chickamauga Wars. In 1805, the Cherokee ceded their lands between the Cumberland and Duck rivers (i.e. the Cumberland Plateau) to Tennessee.Scots (and other Europeans) among the Cherokee in the 18th century

It is known that she had married Col. Ebenezer Folsom (1730 - 1789) before 1786, sometime after the death of Needham Bryan.
The Smith family of Johnston County, North Carolina was quite large with many of the same given names used again and again. I can attest to this in researching my descent also from William Smith (c. 1756 - 1836), the son of Col. John Smith, Jr., (1724 - 1790) and brother of Samuel Smith (1709 - 1783).
The following contributed by Rhonda Brubaker, a descendant of Burrell and Edith (Folsom) Dawson, who was the daughter of Israel and Edith (Bryan) Folsom. Thank you Rhonda.
"Edith (Smith) Bryan Folsom was married to Col. Ebenezer Folsom. They married after the deaths of their first spouses and had no children together. However, Capt. Israel Folsom, eldest son of Col. Ebenezer Folsom, married his step-sister, Edith Bryan who was the daughter of Edith (Smith) Bryan Folsom. Edith (Smith) Bryan Folsom mentions her daughter, Edith Folsom, in her will which is kept at the NC Archives. Col. Ebenezer Folsom's will mentions wife, Edith, and son Israel . . ."

See avatar. The other legitimate wife was Elizabeth Daniel's, also a wife of Ebenezer. We know that Capt Isreal Folsom's -half brother was the-legit brother, Nathaniel Folsom who could have just paid the debt had he inherited as first born with all his combined inheritance; but,Nathaniel and the other boys ( half siblings of Daniel) would have had legitimate claim as legitimate children, but they did not pay for whatever reason. We do know that the non-legitimate son, Capt, Isreal Folsom did purchase the estate of his father, Col Ebenezer Folsom, at auction (which was loaned against to help Rev War efforts). Nathaniel's half brother, Capt Isreal paid as highest bidder on record, what he could not have legitimately and bought the farm that had been a lien against it. He was willed a negro named Simon, only. Nathaniel's legitimate dad, Col. Ebenezer s estate had to settle a lien and that is why the land was auctioned in the first place. probated in Cumberland Co., NC; auctioned on 6 Dec. 1799, of which five tracts totalled 1444 acres sold at auction to satisfy a claim of £166.15.6, with interest. Capt Israel Folsom, being the highest bidder paid £325 for the land with "the appurtenances." (Cumberland County Records, Vol. 18, p. 99.).
Capt Israel didn't PAY the debt but by BUYING the land at 44 years old, the money went to pay the creditors. If married three times, then this is true:
a)first, an Isreal Folsom is the dad of Sophia Folsom with Miss N.Tehani (That's OK Choctaw Nation).
b)had Rev Isreal with Miss Tehani too as well as Sophia. (OK Choctaw Nation) Md Tehini in 1756 (Nathaniel's mom is Ms Daniel and Nathaniel is my DA).
c ) For sure Capt Isreat Dawson Md. Miss Daniel til 1777, Isreal's step-mom, Nathaniel's mom. (DA to both, it's a step siblings married)
Nathaniel's will mentions illegitimate half brother, Isreal, his half brother from Ms Daniels, the half brother who saved the farm....and that Isreal got the biggest chunk of his property - - via an auction.
