Monique (16), who was disabled, was shot while travelling in a minibus taxi, on 3rd September 2002, on Mangel Street, Wesbank, Cape Town. The minibus turned the corner into Tescombie street when witnesses heard a shot and saw Monique being pushed out of the moving vehicle. She died due to the bullet injury at Tygerberg Hospital the next day.
