Moonlight Gordon (1976 - 2006)
Brief overview:
Moonlight (30), a court interpreter was found shot dead about ten metres from his parked car inUmsunduzi in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, police said on Wednesday. Spokesman Inspector Les Botha said Umsunduzi police were carrying out routine patrols on Tuesday around 10pm when they noticed a white Toyota on the side of the road. The keys were still in the ignition and the car was switched on, although the engine was not running.
About ten metres from the car in the bushes, police found the body of Moonlight Gordon, with a bullet wound in his chest. Police recognised Gordon, who was an interpreter at the Camperdown Magistrate's Court.
Two spent 9mm cartridges were found at the scene. Botha said the motive was "totally unclear" as the car would have been taken in a hijacking attempt. Police could not say whether he had been robbed, as they did not know what he had in the car. No arrests had been made and police were investigating.
