About Moore Matlock, Sr.
Matlock witnessed a deed for Henry and Mary Graves in Hanover Co., Virginia, in 1734. He witnessed a deed for John Matlock in Louisa Co., Virginia in 1750. In 1753 he was in Halifax Co. He built a cabin on Edward Powell's land before 1766. In 1786 he had a North Carolina land grant in Tennessee. He sold land to son Zachariah in 1794 that was witnessed by three other sons, Moore Jr., Jason and Absolon Matlock. Moore Matlock was a "trail blazer" most of his life. He was 70 years old when he went to Washington, Sullivan, Jefferson and Roane counties in Tennessee.
