Moritz Esslinger

Moritz, the son of Abraham Eßlinger born in 1802, engaged in the Jewish community of Rottweil; He was appointed municipal councilor in 1858 ". He was also a member of the Synagogue Association, founded in 1861. On 4 June 1833 he married Pauline Degginger from Mühlen, a daughter of Nathan Degginger, born on 12 December 1807 in Mühlen, and his wife Gidiana née Levi. Eleven children were born from the marriage, all of whom were born in Rottweil, but some died early.

Around 1865, Moritz Eßlinger moved with his family to Stuttgart, where he opened a bank business and most recently lived as a private individual. He died on 20 January 1882 and his wife Pauline on 28 April 1888. Both are buried in the Israelite part of the Prague cemetery.

According to the book, Moritz became the first Jewish citizen in the town of Rottweil in 1841, after over 10 years of petitions.
