Hi,
Gloria passed on your e-mail.
Very pleased to hear from you.
Indeed, my father Morris (Moishe) was born in Dobrzyn in 1909.
When he came to Canada in 1935 (January) and registered, the French Canadian official changed his name to Gilbert.
I was also aware that Mikhel died in the ealy stages of the War. I do not recall seeing any photographs that identify him.
However, I will look anew.
My father married Sylvia Schwam also from Dobzyn. Mom died young in 1951. She had 2 brothers and a sister all who lived in Montreal for their entire lives.

Rick Berkovitz has been quite active in tracing family backgrounds.
One piece of information- My mother’s brother Ben Schwam who came to Canada at age 12, spoke Polish returned to Dobzyn in ~1995 -the house my father lived in as a child was still standing and of course occupied my a Polish family. When he asked (in Polish) of a very elderly priest- “What happened to all the Jews”- “They all moved to Palestine” Ha!

Schwam family with Silvia (note spelling of her name) immigrated in 1930— sponsored Morris who came in 1935. Morris and Silvia were sweet-hearts in Poland…most of Morris family perished in the Shoah
