About Morris Goldwater
Arizona businessman, politician, lifelong Democrat, and uncle of Senator and presidential candidate Barry Goldwater. Immigrated to California and then to Arizona, arriving in Prescott in 1876 with his father, Mike. Together, they founded a department store. Morris was a delegate to the Arizona Constitutional convention, member of 3 state legislatures, and was mayor of Prescott for 22 years. Named "Man of the Century" at Prescott's centennial in 1964.
